Dietary Stress
Important information for women
DIETARY STRESS
Not only is good nutrition the solution to many of the health problems faced by women today. But poor nutrition creates an overall condition called dietary stress. Dietary stress is all the bad things we do to our bodies when we eat poorly: a diet too heavy in highly processed carbohydrates and too light in fruits and vegetables.
Among other consequences, dietary stress generates a hormonal response identical to emotional stress called a cortisol surge. When there is too much cortisol hormone present in the body, it eats muscle, bone, connective tissue and enzymes in order to make sugar. Cortisol also destroys brain cells, especially in the brain's memory center, or hippocamus.
Another component of dietary stress is excess sugar, which literally sticks to body proteins and enzymes, making them stiff and compromising their function. Excess sugar also causes excess insulin, which contributes to all major chronic diseases.
Dietary stress is also caused by a deficiency in the micronutrients necessary for the healthy functioning of the body. For example, a deficiency of antioxidants, which neutralize free radicals, is known to damage body tissues and, over time, to cause cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis, Alzheimer's and, yes ladies, even wrinkles.
In short, dietary stress is the basis for all our modern chronic diseases. That's the good news, because YOU have the power to change all that.
Women do so much to nourish others, yet we rarely take the time to nourish ourselves. For all that you do, the strength that you are for your family and friends, and for all that you want to accomplish, doesn't it make sense to take care of yourself?
Changing your diet is the secret. Our modern diet is woefully inadequate to maintain optimal health. Over time, a poor diet increases your odds of developing some type of degenerative disease like heart disease or cancer, not to mention throwing your hormones into disarray.
It doesn't have to be that way. Hippocrates once said, "Let food be your medicine, and medicine be your food." It was good advice then and it's still good advice today.
You have the power to change your world.
